Ariel Re provides its clients with a broad range of innovative reinsurance solutions and services through our offices in Bermuda, London and Hong Kong. We are a multi-line, specialty reinsurer meeting the business needs of a diverse client base. Ariel Re operates principally through Syndicate 1910 at Lloyd’s but also offers access to Lloyd’s Europe via Syndicate 5336. Originally founded in 2005, Ariel Re has a long record of outstanding performance, consistently outperforming both the Lloyd’s and Bermuda markets. Lloyd’s data shows Syndicate 1910 to be the second most profitable syndicate in the Lloyd’s market for the period 2010 to 2020. Ariel Re was acquired by Pelican Ventures and J.C. Flowers on November 24, 2020. Our new shareholder partners bring to the table significant capital resources and a long track record of supporting successful, entrepreneurial businesses in the (re)insurance industry. Pelican Ventures is a private investment firm with a sole focus on the (re)insurance industry established by world-class insurance executives with a proven track record of founding, growing and operating some of the industry’s most enduring and successful franchises. J.C. Flowers is a leading private investment firm dedicated to investing globally in the financial services industry, including a significant focus on (re)insurance, with ~$6 billion of assets under management. In 2021 Ariel Re entered into an operational partnership with Apollo Syndicate Management to underwrite on behalf of SPA 6133, a Lloyd’s special purpose arrangement focused on property catastrophe reinsurance. From 2022 the SPA 6133 portfolio will be combined with Ariel s1910, the combined business increases Ariel Re’s Lloyd’s capacity and allows us to expand our client offerings.
